Monday Blues, a.k.a Living for The Weekend

I get it, I get off at 5:00 PM plus commute time I get home around 6 PM or even later. Then we factor in sleeping time, getting ready/unready, cooking and all the house chores, and it all adds up to roughly 2 hours of truly free time to enjoy or do whatever I like. It is understandable the feeling of doom Sunday afternoon might bring, but I think it’s just a mental game and I’m close to cracking the code. This is my plan, everyday no matter what day of the week it is I’ll find something to do that I enjoy. A couple of examples: I enjoy putting outfits together for work, so in the morning of or the night before I’ll take a little extra time to put my outfit together. At work I look forward to interacting and collaborating with smart and kind co-workers (luckily most of them are).

Other activities I enjoy during the work week:

    • Listening to worship music on my commute
    • Learning the lyrics to my fav. songs to later sing them at karaoke
    • Journaling during lunch hour
    • Taking pride on what I do and writing down my accomplishments for the day
    • Going out for lunch (Not everyday though, gotta be mindful of budget )
    • Give thanks to the Lord for all His blessings, keep a gratitude journal

The last point that I want to touch on is what the Lord says about work; a great verse to do that is Psalm 128:2:

You shall eat the fruit of the labor of your hands; you shall be blessed, and it shall be well with you

Work dignifies us and helps us find purpose. When I figure something out at work or I get task done very well, it makes me feel accomplished. I get that we all want to have a job that makes a difference in this world, but the details and small pieces are just as important, remember that.
